As funny as it might sound as a tag line, but i don not think this is something that can be published, the use of the word Share3 is too heavy on the ear for an ice cream ad.>It could work as a joke between friends, but seeing it in print, something just doesn’t add up.>Plus I think the use of different shades of color and sizes for each word in the typography is not so layout friendly! Sorry but that is my opinion. no offense to anyone.

It does sound funny>but I don’t like the link between being able to marry 4 wives and ice cream. it kind of takes away some the fun.

Heba, I respect your opinion, but I disagree with you. People do joke about it all the time. It is smart of Moey to grab on it.>>Nevermind, I think it is smart for men who can’t hold their urges 😛>>Maher, I am glad it has this effect on you 🙂

I’m with heba on this one, it’s superficially funny tag line. But it’s offensive. Trust me, you don’t want to be mocking people’s religion as a way of advertising>>But you’re the business owner, it’s your call

I honestly didn’t get it at first. Maybe because i don’t know what licky licious is and how its previous ads were.

Nevermind, we should do something for girls 😛>>Qwaider, how offensive it can be??!! Neither me nor Moey intended to offend anyone. People do joke about it all the time. We should stop being over sensitive here. >>z3tar, it is an ice cream shop 🙂

Glad you liked them Fadi.>>It is usual to use such quotes, el share3 7allal arba3a and that doesn’t mean that WILL marry for, but you can if you want.>>this guy thinks the ice cream is so sexy and he wants more, he is thinking about it just to realize that he can have more scoops.>>Easy, not offending anyone at all!>>Look at how Lebanese are successful in advertising, and by the way it is not a print ad, it’s an online ad so just over it Q!

Smart and funny idea – but wrong (business-wise) on many levels. I like the ‘succumb to your urges’ factor, but getting the ‘share3’ involoved triggers reactions that you can’t predict. Secondly, it doesn’t fit your brand image. I hear ‘licky-licious’, i’m thinking bright colours, western-minded, west-ammani, hip, 15-25 year old girls… The advert assumes a point of reference that is, as i see it, irrelavent.

Superficially funny. However i agree with Heba, makes an ok joke between friends but very unwise to see it in print. >>Moey, Advertisement is very specific to different cultures, europeans and americans use sexual references because that works with their culture. To add to this, this is not a sexual innuendo that would go easier on many people’s minds, it is a religious one, that can be perceived as offensive, targeted to a population that is at large religious.>It is a joke, not an advertisement, don’t mix things up. > >Observer, you know i do not give a dam about religion, but the ad for me was not funny at all (sorry seems my sense of humor is a bit more difficult). Furthermore, there is no doubt that this is a bad business move. For soooo many reasons, you, specifically, should not put yourself in a position where you might be interpreted as making jokes of Islam, share3, or even the local culture. |It is an advice from a friend, get this post deleted. You’re stubborn and you will not listen anyway, but just trust me and take this off your blog. >>One last point, don’t mix business with pleasure, friends’ jokes with ads.

I agree with Heba and whatever!! I like your posts but every once in a while my jaw drops at some things you post, and not in a good way!!! >Using Polygamy in a shari3a sense in advertisement is in my opinion like using racist or homophobic jokes for the same purpose!!!! Even if the joke is funny (why did Cadbury make white chocolate? so that black kids can have dirty faces too!!) that doesn’t make it ok or appropriate to use in an ad!> Polygamy is something that I think should be illegalized by law, and to use it with such a positive reference (the ice cream is good!!) would certainly not help in raising awareness against it. Even in the “west” there are certain lines that are not to be crossed! >All sensitivity aside, the add strikes me as not eye catching, and slightly funny in a not very witty way. The only thing that would make people give it a second look is the use of the word Share3, which makes it somewhat controversial!

Guys, it is certainly controversial having such of diverse opinion about the ad.>>But I still can’t see how it offends people. >>It doesn’t make fun of the idea of marrying more than one woman, it builds on it. >>It doesn’t also encourage polygamy unless you it is for ice cream.>>I guess that we ought to level down our defense guards. We seem ready to jump on something and raise the offense flag when we mis-smell an offensive attempt!>>This ad is brilliant because it catches up on local culture. People joke about this all the time. It is a mainstream joke. There is no offense in it whatsoever. >>Take it easy guys.

I agree with nevermind, I don’t like the connection between marriage and ice-cream! I agree that it is kind of funny, but it wouldn’t make me want to buy, and what if someone wants to buy more than 4?! Would he be a sinner now?! Or maybe thats the forbidden fruit you are trying to push people to do with this ad?!
