Double standard in dealing with male and female sexuality is practiced all over the world. Living in a male dominant world, women had to fight in order to get their sexuality acknowledged. While women in the west have achieved a kind of acknowledgment and respect to their own sexuality, women in the Arab world, and in Jordan in particular are still lagging behind.
Now that the news of women sexuality hit the media all over the world, where any half educated man can no longer deny it, people in the Arab world found themselves in a dilemma of how to deal with the new discovered truth. Being forced to stick to the set of traditional teachings and religious views, we came to acknowledge women sexuality but with restricting it to marriage.
With some social changes in the past few years, triggered by the evolution of telecommunication and media, Jordanian unmarried women found themselves in a situation where having a boyfriend is acceptable and in fact a must among their peers! Boyfriends, having no real restrictions on their sexuality by the eyes of society, do not accept having a girl friend without any extra sexual benefits. Being in a dilemma of how much to give is a major concern to every single girl in a relationship outside the marriage boundaries in order to keep her man. Virginity still a red line in Jordan where more and more women practice sex secretly while holding to the fig leaf of virginity that is like a visa stamp towards their journey to marriage.
While having sex with a partner is still no acceptable for women before marriage. Having sex with oneself is also a shame in the eyes of society. For men, it is not a problem. I started hearing about male masturbation since I was 10 years old. Men likes to share their new found secret habit with each other and inherit it to the next generation at school and streets. It is not a shame for a man at his teenage to masturbate, in the contrary; it is a shame for him not to.
For women, the situation is different. Both genders share the same need for sex. When a man goes a couple of days without sex, he becomes very horny where he has to get his loads out. If he didn’t do that with a partner, nor by himself, it comes out at night, in wet dreams. Women are not different. Their bodies as well, build a state for sex readiness. It also builds more fluids that need to take care of. They also become horny and in a need of taking care of. If they don’t do it with a partner because it isn’t accepted, they must do it by themselves.
Female masturbation is still shameful. Women, unlike men, don’t share their secret habit with each other. They don’t inherit this knowledge from the past generation. In the contrary, they inherit a lot of myths and shameful feelings about masturbation. Instead of acknowledging the scientific fact of the benefits of masturbation for women, they talk about lies of how unhealthy is it and how much damage it can cause!
Masturbation can help ease the tension of many women who can’t have sex with a partner. There is no need to feel guilt about it. There is no need to feel shame. It is a biological need that should be taken care of. Women might find comfort in knowing that others do it secretly.

Oh my Fadi, This is right up my alley! I woke up this morning and masturbated and guess what? It was greeeeeat!!! I use to feel ashamed and when I use to hear how my friends would LIE about never touching themselves I set there quite and in shame. Salam FadiI agree with kinzi, you have written it from a male perspective, and thusly you have proved that it is a male-dominant world as you mentioned in your opening sentences.Women are to a large degree different from what you have described. Like kinzi said, they are not as sexually frustrated as men are and do not need to frequently masturbate like we men do. We men need to do it (depending on the person) from several times a day to once every week or so. Well, what about the spiritual implications? I agree that most, if not all have mastrubated. But in order to mastrubate you will have to fantasize about something lustful. Premature ejaculation and masturbation are not really related. Taking myself as an example, I have been masturbating at an average of once everyday since I was 9 years olds. From that time, till this day, ejaculation takes between 15 to 30 minutes for over 90% the masturbations. So I wouldn’t suppose I developed premature ejaculation syndrome. Under some exceptional circumstances, it takes two to three hours to get an ejaculation (this would be in the second go of course).

Dear Younan, Glad I gave you the chance to express your thoughts about defecation! Bozo,granted I am no history professor. But from the little I know about the evolution of nations and struggles for freedoms, with the French, British, South African, and Indian experience being prime examples, I don’t recall reading anything remotely related to orgasms plying any part of it. But I am open to learning and discovering. Seriously, I don’t object to exploring new forms of revolutions. Why spell blood if you can spray semens, have some fun, and get your freedoms at the end. We loose our freedom to our social traditions and religious rigid rules the moment we come to this life. In the contrary it represent the extremist religious opression hold on us that insist on keeping us numb.We now live in a free country, half democratic, and still are trapped. I really like the last round of dialogue between Bozo and Younan .. Fadi, trust me.. growing up, most guys didn’t ever mention these things maybe because most felt ashamed of it!On the flip side, and I know this as a fact, girls do talk about these matters. That’s why I disagree on the notion that the society glorifies it for males but not for females.Now, regarding Premature ejaculation, (and sorry folks Wikipedia is really not the bible)…Getting blind because of it..or getting the jitters .. and all that other medieval junk is all crap. This whole back and forth discussion about masturbation is just bunch of bull shit and I tell you why. When the person gets horny be that a man or a woman eventually they are going to come, there is no way to stop coming. Sometimes you get so horny to the point where by merely touching your penis or pussy you automatically start ejaculting. So any one that tells you that a woman needs to be taught how to masturbate is not telling you the truth. I believe that coming is an innate feeling and doesn’t stem only from masturbation. You can rub your gentiles against anything soft and all of sudden you are comming. I personally have used all kinds of creative ways to come without masturbating at all. You must understand that the ultimate goal is not the masturbation it self, it is the orgasim or the ecstatic feeling of exploding is what the person usually is aspiring to attain.I guess what I’m saying is that you can have an intercourse with anything handy from around the household. A mattress, a pillow, a teddy bear, some fruits and vegetables, and so on.

Well it turns out the Russians protect their Internet. It turns out my company which is the sponsor of the http://www.religiousfreedomwatch.org site is being sued by OAO TRANSTELEKOM. This OAO is apparently like the AOL or Earthlink of Russia but under the control of the Russian government. They are suing because an IP address used by one of these Indonesians is their IP address and I posted it to show how I and American Coast Title are harassed by Indonesians and I guess now Russians too.They are suing for millions of dollars and they are demanding an apology. I have had to meet with Frank Berriz and Linda Blood about it as they are the other owners of American Coast Title and they are named in the lawsuit.But they are even sneakier as they are also complaining to Stewart Title who are our underwriters. This could quite literally get us shut down all because I go through life according to my religion.And, it gets worse. Some Russian radio station has sent press releases to my competitors telling them about this. I don’t even get my day in court with OAO and the Russians have already decided I lost. But the real trick is they are hiding behind the Olympics. OAO is suddenly the official Internet of the Olympics. OAO says this somehow libels the Olympics. Well guess what I say it doesn’t but I guess what I say doesn’t count for much in Russia these days. Maybe countries that value religious freedom should boycott the Russian Olympics again. That will teach them a lesson.So that’s it. I hate Russia. The teachers way back when were right they had us hide from the Russians. Maybe we should of kept doing that. It is clear the Russians are just going to walk all over us. They are going take away our religious freedom and who knows what they will do after that.

In the middle east, where I’ve lived only for short periods of time, I can tell you that women do talk about sex, but never about masturbation and the actual sexual acts they’ve encountered. It’s very superficial, and it seems like there’s a social barrier in place that prevents women from talking about this. I can tell you that if the subject of mastubration was ever brought up among a group of adult arab women, there would definitely be accusations of promiscuity.It’s just that in the arab world, a woman’s sexuality is not appreciated and therefore has no place to bloom. As a result, it becomes easy to label women sluts for being sexual, even if it’s in their own bedrooms. I also blame this for the lack of sexual knowledge that many women have in the arab world. How to reach orgasm, what an orgasm even IS, and the importance of mutual enjoyment of sex. I feel like many women have sex only to please their partners, while they themselves have no idea how to enjoy the act.I’m going off on a tangent here but it’s hard to start talking about this without going into these details.

I came across this article recently and as a 20 something Jordanian female, there are some things that I would like to add.
Observer, medically speaking, women do not have a build-up of fluids that must be taken care of, they simple have sexual urges, and masturbation is a way of dealing with it. As long as you don’t overdo it (just like pretty much anything else), there are no health hazards associated, being for men or for women.
True, girls and women discuss sex, but in my whole life, never have I felt comfortable to discuss masturbation with a female, although I’ve been doing it since puberty. Statistically speaking, 75% of girls masturbate before they’re 18, so while it may be true that some women never touch themselves before marriage-or sex or whatever (which is a sad, sad thing in my opinion), the majority of them do, meaning that women do not have an On-Off button for sex, which probably is the stupidist thing i’ve heard in my entire life.

As for the topic that women do not have an on-off switch, there's some truth to it. Men are like microwaves and women are like ovens when it comes to sexual arousal. As a man all it takes is to see my beauitful wife naked and right away I'm ready to penetrate her.
