Damn me! demanding my child right for my citizenship!


Oh damn me!

How selfish am I asking for the right to pass my citizenship to my husband and children.

Is it selfishness? or is it insanity?

Insane enough to ask for an equal status with Man
Insane enough to think that the half genetic code that I pass to my kids are not that inferior to the second half provided by my husband

After all, he is the MAN!

His genes comes through his sperm, that comes out of his phallus!

That damn phallus!

Mine are hidden in my vagina, nearly as invisible as myself

Invisible genetic code vs a phallic genetic code, that explains it all, no?
It has all been set from long time ago; children carry the name of their fathers.
That is what religion tells us, what God wants, what our traditions entails, and what our habits are accustomed to.

Simple and easy.

and in a modern, civil country, where a citizen is suppose to be a ‘citizen’, old habits get translated into laws
So yes, the invisibility of my genetic code is naturally transferred into the penal code.. of my country
Children who used to carry the name of their fathers, can only carry the citizenship of their fathers as well

Simple and easy.

Why change that? for women are not really full citizens. You know?

They don’t really pay the same amount of taxes, do they?
They don’t really work as hard as men, do they?
They are less smart, less educated, and less worthy, aren’t they?
and guess what? They get pregnant! and become burdon to their employers and society.
but hey, once they pop their child out, it is no longer theirs

Well, how could it be when the woman herself becomes a property for her husband? when she, herself, abandons her family and claims his family name?
Sorry, forgot that this usually happens ‘out of love’
He loves her too, don’t get me wrong, but a Man’s love is different too.. it comes with privileges..
such as ‘a citizen can be different than another citizen’ (based on sex, country of origin, religion, race, color, sexual orientation, etc)
of course there will always be pigs who are more equal than other pigs.. this is life.. deal with it

and damn me

I opened the pandora box.. and whispered ‘Equality’

woooooww! hold on! Equality? me and Man? is it even possible?

Equality that risks to destroy the ‘Jordanian Identity’?
Equality that risks to destroy the ‘Palestinians Identity’?
Equality that would pull all of the Palestinians and destroy any hope for a Palestinian future (as if that is happening tomorrow).
Equality that would kill Jordan and turn it into a substitute land!

This is what Israel wants, isn’t it? what the devil wants? what the immoral civil world wants? Equality!

I know, I am just being selfish. I am just looking at my own selfish gain without looking at the broader picture and the best for my country.
My country? Can I even say that? while being a woman?
The best for the country is what is best for its men. Remember, I am invisible?

So Jordanian men can marry Palestinian women all they want. They can marry up to 4! They can pull them all out of Palestine, grant them their citizenship and get as many children out of them who would only be Jordanians.

That wouldn’t affect the Palestinian cause… neither the Jordanian identity!
You know, Israel is like us, they don’t count women. Even the UN, they don’t really count women, do they?
They don’t even acknowledge the linkage between a child and a mother..

Remember? Mother genetic code is invisible..

Maybe I am just choosing the wrong time? you know ‘the global conspiracy’ that is after us? I am just a tool, I know it!

It has always been.. my rights are equal to human disasters! alien invasions! armageddons!

That what happens when I step up.. when I stop being that invisible!

طارق مصاروة يحارب المرأة الأردنية


جنسيتي حق لعائلتي

جنسيتي حق لعائلتي

أستغرب الشبق الذي يدفع بالبعض لإطلاق العنان لخيالهم الخصب وبناء ناطحات سحاب على منطقهم الضحل حين يتم الحديث عن حقوق المرأة الأردنية، وكأن هنالك علاقة عكسية بين حقوق المرأة وكرامتها وعزتها وبين المصلحة العامة للوطن والمجتمع والقضية الفلسطينية والهوية العربية والسلم العالمي ورضى رب العالمين! فثلا القانون الغبي الذي يسقط عقوبة المغتصب إن تزوج ضحيته يبرر من قبل بعض الأفراد على أنه وجد لحماية المغتصبة من القتل على أيدي أهلها، فبدلا من حل المشكلة بمعاقبة الأهل الذين يقومون بهكذا جريمة، يتم سماح المجرم ومكافأته ومعاقبة الضحية بطريقة قد تكون أسوأ من قتلها.

على نفس المنوال، يحرم القانون الأردني المرأة الأردنية من حقها الأساسي في منح جنسيتها لزوجها وأولادها تحت منطق واهي يربط من حقها بالقضية الفلسطبينية والوطن البديل، وكأن حرمان المرأة من هذا الحق يضمن حل القضية وبقاء الفلسطينيين على أرضهم. المحزن أن تشاهد كتاب في وزن طارق مصاروة يهول من هذا الأمر بطريقة استعراضية تهدف إلى استنفار الناس واستفزاز مشاعرهم عندما يربط بين حق المرأة في منح جنسيتها لعائلتها وبين ضياع الهوية الفلسطينية والهوية الأردنية

وتقول للسادة المهتمين بتخلي 400 ألف فلسطيني عن جنسيتهم: أتريدون إلغاء هوية الفلسطيني، أو إلغاء هوية الأردني؟! ولمصلحة مَنْ بعد ان وصل تثبيت الهوية الفلسطينية إلى اعتراف العالم بدولتهم وبعد دماء غزيرة كان الدم الفلسطيني يجري فيها طيلة قرن من الزمن؟!

لكنه لم يفسر لنا كيف سيتم الغاء الهوية الفلسطينية أو الهوية الأردنية في هذه العملية؟ هل يتكلم هنا من منطق اقليمي ضيق لا يرى قيمة للحقوق المدنية والهوية الوطنية أمام قوة الأصول والمنابت؟ كيف ستلغى الهوية الأردنية بتجنيس كان من كان إن كانت الهوية الأردنية مرتبطة بالجنسية الأردنية والدولة الأردنية؟ في أية دولة مدنية حديثة من دول العالم، فإن حامل جنسية ذلك البلد هو مواطن كامل في الحقوق الواجبات حتى لو حصل على الجنسية أمس. لا يتم أبدا التشكيك في ولائه أو انتمائه أو التمييز ضده في أي من الأمور الحقوقية. آما عن تجنيس ٤٠٠ ألف فلسطيني كما يدعي، فهو لم يقم بتقديم  إثبات بحقيقة الرقم الذي يتكلم عنه ولكنه قدره جزافا من الرقم الرسمي المعلن وهو 60 ألف امرأة أردنية متزوجة من أجنبي. افترض بأن كل الأجانب هنا فلسطينيين وأن عدد أفراد كل أسرة من تلك حوال 6 أفراد!!

المهم بعيدا عن تهويل الأرقام، فهنالك افتراضين اخرين قام بهم الكاتب: الأول أن ال 400 ألف فلسطيني مستعدون للتخلي عن جنسيتهم الفلسطينية؟ وأنا لا أفهم ذلك! إن كان القانون يمنع مزاوجة جنسيتين عربيتين في نفس الوقت فالأولى تغيير هذا القانون عوضا عن حرمان المرأة الأردنية من حق أساسي. وهذا على افتراض أن كل هؤلاء الفلسطينيين على أهبة الإستعداد للتخلي عن جنسيتهم ووطنهم. أما الإفتراض الثاني وهو ذا بعد ذكوري بحت، لا يعترف بأن أبناء المرأة يحملون جزأ من دمها وكينونتها وهويتها الوراثية. نعم العرف التقليدي يقتدي نسب الولد إلى الأب، لكن العرف المدني في الدولة المدنية الحديثة يقتضي حق جنسية الأب وجنسية الأم. فال 400 ألف فلسطيني الذي يتكلم عنهم هم نصف أردني ونصف فلسطيني إن أردنا أن ننظر للمرأة على أنها مواطن يحمل الأهلية ولها حق أساسي في أبنائها ونسبهم. وعلى نفس المنوال فإن الألاف الأخرى من الرجال الأردنيين الذين تزوجوا بفلسطينية، فإن أبنائهم نصف أردنيين ونصف فلسطينيين، ومشاركتهم في “الغاء” الهوية الأردنية أؤ الفلسطينية أو التخلي عن فلسطين وتهجيرها من أهلها لا يجب أن يقل ابدأ عن الفئة الأول. لماذا على المرأة الأردنية أن تدفع ثمن القضية الفلسطينية لوحدها؟

القضية ليست قضية تجنيس وتوطين كما يريد أن يصورها البعض، القضية هي قضية حقوق مرأة ومساواة وعدالة اجتماعية. علينا اليوم أن نختار، هل الأردن دولة مدنية أم لا؟ إن كان كذلك فإن قوانين الدولة يجب أن تراعي حسها المدني وليس التقاليد الخاصة لبعض الأفراد الظالمة للمرأة.

The Culture Trip

The Culture Trip is an organisation which seeks to highlight the best of what each country has to offer in terms of culture, arts, literature, film and music. We exist in the nexus between travel and culture and seek to broaden the relation between the two, by offering a hand-picked selection of cultural sights, events and resources alongside articles on arts and culture. We want to attract like-minded individuals who are culturally curious and constantly seek new avenues to navigate through the global canon of arts and literature, wherever they may be.

Various places across the globe are only perceived through the prism of tradition and heritage whilst their contemporary cultural output is dismissed. We seek to redress this imbalance by focusing on the contemporary, to reveal the thriving cultural output which exists in many countries. We also focus on cultural icons – figures that have played a role in defining a particular culture through their art, music, cinema or literature.

Our writers are volunteers who come from 70 countries around the world and reflect the multicultural team within The Culture Trip. We seek contributions from people with an interest in arts and culture and are conscious of the need to find local expertise and knowledge on contemporary cultural output. As well as seeking articles on contemporary culture we seek new insightful angles on history, politics and society.

Too much travel writing offers only a glib, superficial experience of a place; an outsider’s temporary perspective on centuries of culture and history, we seek to go beyond those facile impressions to other a comprehensive guide to cultural experience in a given destination.

This cultural deficit is something we hope to redress in our own small way, by shining a light on artists, writers, filmmakers and musicians who despite our globalised culture still don’t achieve the international renown they deserve.

We are particularly interested in focusing on the Middle East and Asia, two regions which for different reasons have somewhat distorted international profiles but which also have underappreciated depths of culture and art to explore. These regions are also experiencing something of a growth period, in which artistic expression is becoming both more prominent and writers and artists are able to engage with the world in more innovative and expressive ways.
