لم اكن اعرف ان التحرش الجنسي للرجال في النساء بالاردن ليس منتشرا لفظيا فقط بل جسديا ايضا و بشكل كبير. كنت اعتقد ان جرأة الشباب لا تتعدى نظرة جنسية او تعلبق ساخر او حتى ممكن ان تكون ملاحقة من بعيد, لم اتوقع انها تصل الى الملامسة الجسدية كمسك الثدي او بعص المؤخرة! و حتى لو حصل ذلك فكنت اعتقد انه يحصل على نطاق ضيق ,و ليس كما تدعي صديقة لي انه لا يوجد امرأة اردنية لم تتعرض لموقف كهذا في حياتها! لا اعرف كمية الحقيقة بهذا الادعاء, لكنها حقيقة مؤلمة تقلقني خصوصا ان موقف كهذا يمر عادة مرور الكرام دون اي عقاب للفاعل
اذكر حادثين حصلا في المدرسة, اذكر احدى بنات صفي تبكي بشدة و بغضب شديد و هي تصرخ في و جه ولد بعصها و نحن في الطريق الى الصف بعد الفرصة حيث يكون الممر مكتظا و تحصل حوادث كتلك. الحادثة الاخرة ايضا لبنت كانت تبكي بعد ان حصل معها نفس الشيء, عند مواجهتها للولد فأنه دعاها بالشرموطة! لا اعرف اذا كان لديهم الجرأة للشكوى عند ادارة المدرسة فتلك الاحداث عادة تمر مرور الكرام خوفا من الفضيحة
حدثتني صديقتي عن حادثة حصلت معها قرب الجامعة الاردنية. كانت جالسة على مقدمة سيارتها في انتظار صديقة لها, لم تتوقع ان الشاب المار من امامها قد يملك الجرأة الكافية ليسحبها من قدمها! فما كان منها الا ان رفصته بقدمها الثانية في المنطقة الحساسة بين فخذيه. اكيد شعر في الالم و هرب قبل ان تصرخ و تلم الناس عليه
حادثة اخرى حدثت مع امرأة اخرى في مكان مزدحم. امرأة امتلكت سرعة البديهه و الجرأة للوى اصبع الشخص المتعرض لها بحركة سريعة جعلته يكتم صرخة الم و يشعر بالخذي بين الجموع
صديقة اخرى حدثتني عن عمتها التي ذهبت مع اب صديقتي و امها لمشاهدة واحدة من فعاليت مهرجان جرش عدة سنين ماضية. كان هناك رجل يجلس في الصف امامها, و يمد يده خلسة كل قليل ليحسس على رجلها. في البداية حاولت ان تبعد قدمها قليلا و لاتخبر اخاها خوفا من المشاكل, و لكن بعد عدة حركشات لم تجد مفرا من اخباره. هو تصرف بذكاء, فتبادل الاماكن معها و رفع طرف بنطلونه, فما كان من الرجل في الصف الامامي الا ان مد يده من دون ان ينظر و يحسس على رجل اب صديقتي بدل عمتها. امسكه اب صديقتي من يده و رماه على درجات المدرج بين الجموع
للاسف فانه ليس هناك دائما عقاب للمتعدي, عدة صديقات لي اصابتهم فوبيا من الاماكن المزدحمة بعد حضورهم لحفلة لكاظم الساهر في المدرج الروماني في البلد قبل عدة سنين و تعرضهم لكم هائل من التعديات و التحرشات الجنسية الجسدية. كل ذلك يحصل من غير تطبيق صارم للقوانين حيث تخاف المرأة من تعقيدات القانون,و نظرة رجال القانون و المجتمع لها فنحن ورثنا ثقافه تفضل دفن الاشياء تحت الرمال خوفا من الفضيحة

I recall one time, I was taking the bus to the university. As I was going up to get in the bus, I was pushed back roughly, and eventually fallen back a step or two. Then a girl started shouting at me: “Shoo gilet el-7aya hay!” [How low of you], and she continued with few other remarks.At that point I didn’t realize what happened [actually until this date I am not sure what really happened]. I wanted to shout back at her, but then I got a grip on myself and totally ignored her, and didn’t say a word back.Not sure what happened and why she got mad at me, but I suspect that my elbow might have hit her boob, and maybe she thought it was intentional.The point is, these things happen [guys sexually harassing girls], and they make girls suspicious of every move a guy makes around them. Maybe that girl later on realized that it was an accident, maybe not. But its bad that every move is suspect.This also reminds me of a teacher at our school who used to hate that anyone stand behind him. He has the feeling that anyone standing behind him will finger him. Too much for paranoia!!

The other day I was with a couple of friends/colleagues driving back to work after lunch break. We stopped at the traffic light, and 2 women passed by. Both my friends started whistling, propositioning them, and commenting on their butt, their breasts and what have you.I was so embarrassed to be with them.On a different note, about the public places thing, I’ve had the opposite thing happen to me where a woman I don’t know started massaging my leg with hers on a 7 hour flight. I guess the difference is guys don’t usually mind that. That was the shortest 7 hour flight I’ve ever had.

I just read DM’s comment. I had a similar misunderstanding. I was shopping at the mall while listening to my mp3 player. Suddenly I heard a woman shouting at me (Perv!). It turns out she thought I was winking at her. When I was blinking. I was like: (lady, a wink requires keeping one eye shut, whereas a blank is instantaneous). She said (yeah right), and I’m like (Get over yourself), and I walked on.

As much as i never believed that this would happen so often in our country, but unfortunately i was in the place of action a day before EID , in jabal il hussain , and you wont imagine how much these who i can call <>STUPID girls<> go through , with some sick guys through the crowd touching thier tits and asses .You cant prevent it , you can hold yourself from buying clothes a day before EID , as it becomes so dirty to bear, again <>STUPID GIRLS<>

what happened with devil’s mind happened with me too. I was hanging out with a bunch of guys (around 9 with only one girl among us).. All of a sudden, the girl shouts at us: “stop bumping into my boobs. almost all of you elbowed it”..none of us really meant it coz she is our friend…its her fault for standing in the middle of hallway with her large body and over-sized breast.

صراحه اذا اردت أن اسرد ما تعرضت له شخصيا من ايام الطفولة فلن تكفي هذه المساحه لم اكن ادرك حينها ان ما اتعرض له هو تحرشات جنسية ، لم اعي ذلك الا بعد ان بلغت من العمر عتيا الان عندما اتذكر تلك الحوادث التي مررت بها افكر لو كان تفكيري حينها كما هو عليه الان لكنت تصرفت بطريقه مغايره كليا لتصرفي وقتها دائما عندما تذكر امامي مثل تلك التصرفات اتمنى ان افهم شيء واحد فقط ما المتعه التي يجنيها الرجل من مجرد ملاصقة جسده لجسد الفتاه الجالسه بجانبه في السرافيس والباصات ما المتعه التي يشعر بها عندما يهمس في اذن فتاه بكلمات نابيه فعلا اتمنى لو ادرك ما هية هذه المتعه التي لطالما حاولت ادراكها ولكني فشلت !

I just wonder why in our conservative societies the intensity of girls’ harassment in the streets is significantly more than other more/less developed countries? And we still think we have the best reference of ethics!

The phenomena is explained by the comment made by Rabe’e abdel-wahab, with his remark ‘stupid girls’. Blaming the victim, the harassed, the woman effectively gives permission to perverts to harass women who they perceive to be doing something wrong or stupid, be that not wearing a tent, or wearing a tent (depending on ur personal preference), it could be attending a music concert, going to the market at peak hours, sitting in front of ur uni, riding a bus, stepping out of the house—You cannot blame how women dress or the westerfication of the media and media workers. Since the portrayal of seduction, provocation and such is much more obvious in the west as is a more licentious attitude towards intimate relationships. In amman i was very cautious, since I had been exposed to couple of awkward situations (a car once reversed into my friend so the driver could see her jump—many more examples though) and became very of men. This has not been the case in england (considering the arguments blaming women for their harassment u would expect it to be worse here), in fact i am more at ease on public transport in London than i ever was in amman.
